Innovative control panel for SBB toilets: technologically advanced and geared towards the future

After 30 years, SBB was faced with the task of modernizing the WC facilities in its IC coaches. The control panel for light, toilet flushing, water, soap and hand dryers was a central component of this modernization. The panel not only has to withstand extreme stresses from tens of thousands of passengers every day, but also be resistant to vandalism. In addition, operation must be intuitive and accessible for all user groups - including visually impaired people.

Stadler: Customized HMI for Merseyrail trains in Liverpool

Algra developed an innovative door control panel for the "Stadler Class 777" electric multiple unit train, which operates for Merseyrail in Liverpool.

Challenge: Stadler needed an HMI with RFID recognition, LED display and a flat design that could also be operated with gloves and wet fingers. It also needed to be easy to retrofit and hygienic to clean.

Solution: Algra developed a customized HMI without visible screw connections and with minimal keypads, based on Agnostic technology. This enables the precise detection of pressure without any visible openings - ideal for heavy-duty use and easy cleaning.

The result: the HMI fits perfectly into the Stadler Class 777 and can easily be retrofitted in other trains. Algra has once again set standards in the development of intuitive, durable operating elements.
