Innovative control panel for SBB toilets: future-oriented and technologically advanced

After 30 years, SBB was about to modernize its WC facilities in the IC coaches. A central element was the control panel for light, toilet flushing, water, soap and hand dryer. The panel had to withstand heavy daily use, be vandal-proof and intuitive to operate - even for visually impaired people.

Customer requirements:

Solution: Algra developed a tailor-made panel with agnostic touch technology and a continuous aluminum surface. It offers haptic feedback and is easy to clean.

Technical details:

  • Agnostic Touch: Seamless, vandal-resistant aluminum surface that responds to minimal pressure.
  • Aluminum front: Scratch-resistant, durable, typical SBB color scheme.
  • Tactility: embossing and Braille lettering for visually impaired users.
  • Feedback: Visual and haptic feedback through LEDs and vibration.
  • Invisible screw connection: Increased protection against vandalism, simple modular replacement.

Result: Algra created a robust, user-friendly panel for SBB that combines hygienic use and durability.
