Innovative control panel for SBB toilets: technologically advanced and geared towards the future

After 30 years, SBB was faced with the task of modernizing the WC facilities in its IC coaches. The control panel for light, toilet flushing, water, soap and hand dryers was a central component of this modernization. The panel not only has to withstand extreme stresses from tens of thousands of passengers every day, but also be resistant to vandalism. In addition, operation must be intuitive and accessible for all user groups - including visually impaired people.

Advanced operation of the Schaerer Coffee Soul coffee machine

Challenge:
Schaerer's goal was to meet the needs of its customers and make it easier for people with disabilities to use the machine in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Solution:
We use our Agnostic Touch solution for applications in public areas. The buttons can be activated by touching them with a finger, a pen or even with gloves. They are suitable for front panel materials such as glass, stainless steel or various plastics.
The design meets the highest hygiene standards - openings in the user interface are not required. The buttons were deliberately designed to be large and fitted with finger guides to make them particularly easy to operate.

Result:
As planned, the HMI interface has proven to be a robust solution for public areas. Users can now select their product independently and effortlessly using three buttons without having to operate the display, which may be difficult for them to reach.
